AI Platform Engineering Upskilling
Speaker 1all right, welcome, welcome, welcome. This is bobby d, host of the tech hustle, and we're at episode number 34. What's up? Fellas how's everybody doing? Good feeling good. Good, the music is jamming in the background, getting our week started got our cuban coffee this morning.
Speaker 2Oh, did you. What'd you get this morning? You got it too.
Speaker 1I mean, yeah, some coffee with leche. It was some good stuff. Plus you got some pastries too, right? Yeah yeah, yeah, you didn't bring no nothing for everybody, though that was like yo, you forgot me kid, they didn't even make it inside of here, dude, I literally swallowed him.
Speaker 2There was no chewing for sure.
Speaker 3I don't even think you guys thought about me. Oh my, gosh well welcome.
Speaker 1Welcome to season or episode number 34. We're not doing seasons, no more. Um, it's me and the crew big shout outs to d hustle, what's up? D hustle, what up? I have my guy d hustle coming in. All right, oh, the music's still jamming. And then we got my guy raymond. Don't call him ray ray, what's up with raymond?
Speaker 1with his nuggets yeah, we got got some good conversations going on today. Let me give you all a quick show rundown. We're going to jump right into a tech talk that I have. We're going to be talking about upscaling in the era of AI and our forthcoming cohort, d-hustle, is going to be dropping some gems around, some new OS wear stuff, some solar eclipse things I don't know if y'all caught it yesterday and definitely elon musk that's a comment or two. And then we got raymond's nuggets with his uh two websites that we're going to be kicking today. Right, yeah, dive into it. And then d hustle closes out with some sports. It seems like we had some real cool events that happened a few days ago. And then definitely big shout outs to our sponsorship, because we're going to make sure we shout them out, and and then I'll close it out at the end with some call to action, some news updates. And let me just say it right now If you're not subscribed, subscribed what did you tell them the other day, raymond?
Speaker 2Like subscribe. If not, you're a hater.
Speaker 1Wow, this guy automatically calling everybody a hater. But we are looking for support. Definitely find us on all podcast platforms and definitely find us on youtube, because we got a new video I'm gonna talk about too. So y'all ready to jump into our talk today? Ready, yeah, yeah, cue up some music. Let's see what kind of music we got. Oh, we got the old joint. That's kicking it. This also reminds me of our, uh, an episode we got on on youtube backstage with bobby d y'all caught that yet? Yeah, yeah, for sure. All right, d hustle, I appreciate you bringing me up on stage. Uh, today we're going to be talking about a topic that a mentee of mine came to me and talked and asked me a question last week. Um, she's a newly grad engineer, um, and I'll give you a little bit more background about her. She's a new grad engineer, um that's studying computer science at, um, I believe it's University of Florida. So one of the Gators.
Speaker 2Shut up.
Speaker 1You know how I feel about that, but she's a student there and she's graduating this coming May and our conversation was really just about career advice, career development, what should she be prepared for in the industry? And I think the thing that she really just brought to my attention is is how much new grads and everybody are intimidated by the future of ai. Are y'all intimidated at all by it? I'm mad now d hustle said no, I'm not intimidated at all lazy, you know casual attitude about it.
Speaker 2I'm terrified.
Speaker 1D hustle said I got it, I'm good. He says my role and responsibility is good. What are you terrified about raven?
Speaker 2oh, you know typical, you know standard, cliche, you know taking our jobs and stuff like that.
Speaker 1So yeah, yeah, I mean it's. It's definitely something that a lot of people are worried about. And what would you feel in d hustle?
Speaker 3I feel good about it, man, yeah, if, uh, if they come take my job, that's fine. I'm just gonna be chilling d hustle, said. I'm gonna be good regardless, be like that corona commercial, I'm gonna find my beach, yeah, yeah for sure, what can I do?
Speaker 1100 man, 100. So this, this mentee of mine, she's, like I said, was very concerned about the, the error that's forthcoming with ai um, and she actually caught our last episode where we talk about, uh, that software engineering, ai devon.
Speaker 1Y'all remember that episode when I talked about that um, and I was telling her about it and I was more or less just giving her some insights, and I really feel like it's like a public service announcement that I need to really make for those that are studying software engineering is y'all going to have to upskill? And what I mean by upskill? I mean you're going to have to learn more than just software engineering in this era that we're in, because AI is coming and it's definitely not going to be something we can compete with as software engineers, because it's just going to do it better than us. So this idea of what skills and or what type of engineering could I basically upskill with the new skill but also be able to be, you know, valued in an organization. So I actually sent her this article that I was reading. It was talking about an engineering skill called platform engineering. Have you ever heard of that before? Platform engineering?
Speaker 2I have, I don't know what it? Is exactly.
Speaker 1Yeah, for sure, no worries. And she had also not heard of platform engineering. I have I don't know what it is exactly, but yeah for sure, no worries and she had also not heard of platform engineering. But I'm going to quickly describe it and then also put a plug in for our cohort, because that's still going to be one of the ways for you to level up on the skill set. But think of platform.
Speaker 1Engineering is an engineering practice around developing a platform that other software engineers use. An example so let's say that I want to go write some code today and, let's say, push it out to the world. Right, I would have to know how to set up a computer. I would have to know how to set up a, let's say, a source control. I would have to learn how to set up all my dependencies. I would have to actually have to install and run AWS or GCP, like. There are so many things that you have to do to get your software on the internet, and what platform engineering does is it takes care of all of that for you, and all you have to do as a software engineer is just write code and then, following the standards defined by your platform engineering team, such as hey, we use something called Bazel for our configuration and build process, we use ZooKeeper for our service discovery, we use Docker Images or Docker itself for our deployment. It's more or less an organization that standardizes how you develop and develop an application and also how you manage and deploy it, and the cool thing about it is that that skill is not going away. There are going to be platform engineers that have to be around to develop the systems that AI is going to write code for, but also being able to automate some of that stuff Right, and she was like all right.
Speaker 1So, of all the things that platform engineers would be involved in, what is one skill that I know could definitely be valuable in that organization for platform and engineering and I was like yo as a software engineer, if you can learn the operating system and learn Linux, you could definitely level up and be a resource that is always going to be needed in your organization to develop these platforms and manage these platforms.
Speaker 1So I was like yo if you're interested, we should develop those skills and develop those skills and upskill everybody that is so software engineering so that they can have these type of jobs. So that would actually lead me into a plug because I also mentioned it to our mentee, or to my mentee is that the tech hustle is actually creating a cohort specifically upskilling for the era of AI by teaching Linux operating systems to software engineers or any engineers in our organization. So let's get a big round of applause for the tech hustle. We're really going to be out here pushing these endeavors and developing skills at the lowest level and then building our way up. Does that make sense to y'all?
Speaker 2Absolutely.
Speaker 1Yeah, y'all interested in learning Linux and getting y'all feet wet a little bit. I think everybody's going to have to learn this skill set and the cool thing about it is is I'm going to be the lead instructor, so y'all know me, I'm going to be dropping gems and definitely want to encourage you all to check us out. Definitely this mentee, she'll be in the class in this cohort. But the main thing here and this is not like hey, just a plug for you all to sign up for the cohort, which low key I'm trying to get them to come through but in general, you're going to have to upskill in this era of AI, especially if you're learning cybersecurity, devops, engineering, any type of systems engineering, let's say cloud engineering, software engineering, data scientists, data engineering. You're going to have to understand how these systems work so that you cannot be one of those that is just, you know, automated out of your job by an AI, but, more specifically, left out, right, but more specifically, you actually having the right skills to continue to level up.
Speaker 2So, yeah, I'm really excited about it.
Speaker 1So, yeah, I'm really excited about it. Thanks for the big shout out there and definitely I look forward to everybody. If you are interested in joining this cohort, like I said, we're going to be learning Linux administration. We're actually going to be working towards getting a certification called the Linux Plus by CompTIA and then there's going to be some more opportunities to get more certifications. But in general it's a six-week cohort um. Check us out on our website, thetechhustlecom. You can find out all the information there and, yeah, I can't wait until I get a chance to do some more teaching and show y'all you know this skill set that I'm not afraid of ai. I'm not afraid of ai at all I'm ready.
Speaker 2I'm definitely not raymond said I'm terrified. Have we not learned anything from Terminator?
Speaker 3Yeah, he died and came back.
Speaker 1And they keep coming back. But the thing about Terminator let's just put that on the table there had to be individuals, people that understood how the machines work right, and this is the skill that we'll be developing is really understanding how the operating system work that these machines use. If we all don't learn it, then, yeah, machines will take over. So if you all want to learn some skills, come and holler at us. We got you here at the tech house for sure. All right, all right. Well, thank you all so much for letting me drop that plug and definitely big shout outs to my mentee. She's going to be in the cohort. We got a few slots available still, so definitely come and holler at us. Um, and yeah, d house is going to host, host another course or two. Um on there talking about you know personal development, how to continue to hustle the hustle. That's another.
Speaker 1That's another project, that's another project, and then raymond is going to be our mr public speaker, mr toastmaster, right, yeah, yeah yeah, he's going to be leveling everybody up but we got a lot of things coming up. But definitely follow along if you're not already following, so you can get update on all the things that we have to offer, because we're really trying to impact our community directly I even throw in some scrum masters, some, yeah, expertise just in case you see that's the guy the plug right, he gots it all right, fellas well.
Tech Updates, Eclipse Talk, and AI
Speaker 1thank y'all for tuning into uh well audience. Thank y'all for tuning in to uh the audience. Thank you all for tuning in to the Tech Hustle Tech Talk this morning. Big shout-outs to my mentee. Like I mentioned to you Shout-outs, Come and check us out over here. For our cohort Next up we've got Mr D Hustle. What's going on. I heard you got some new update on these watches.
Speaker 3What's good? Yeah, man, I talked about this last episode. If you guys haven't heard yet about the OnePlus, watch yeah.
Speaker 2That's switching over.
Speaker 3So now you're able, it's official. Now it's official. Now Wear OS you can transfer your data.
Speaker 1Oh, that's what's up, that's what's up.
Speaker 3So what I did is I've added it to the discourse so you guys can see what's going on. They even give you guys instructions on how to make that happen. Nice. That's what's up we want to go ahead and uh, don't have to buy Apple watch.
Speaker 1You know, make it happen, yep, uh second oh, so this is going to be like a uh, an alternative to Apple watch, right?
Speaker 3Yeah, for sure, I feel you know and then last, thing, you guys seen the eclipse yesterday.
Speaker 1Oh, let me tell you, um, I didn't see it. Well, I hope you won't be able to see anything right now.
Speaker 3I hope y'all didn't see it, but I heard I don't want to see, when I put it on my instagram, I see a lot of people with the eclipse. I'm just gonna have to fast because I'll fuck up my eyes.
Speaker 1Yeah, you know just even looking at it right, I tell you that that was an experience, though if you just think about the era that we've lived in, um I don't how many eclipses can y'all remember? Y'all y'all have heard of I remember one back in 2017 we had one right, and then now we just had this one here so yeah and I heard this like another 20 years until the next one that we'll have yeah, is it 20?
Speaker 2they said like 20, yeah, 2050 or something like yeah 2050 or something like that.
Speaker 1Okay so yeah, did your kids get outside and um, do some score stuff no, no, I told him not to mess up their eyes. Yeah, for sure but my son comes walking into the house like he's blind and I'm like what did you do? He's like I just looked up. It's like, bro, don't play with that. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3You have to wear some special type of glasses yeah, for sure tells you guys not to wear, not to so. Nasa says don't take photos of the eclipse on your iphone oh and they say warns. Basically, from what they're saying here is that the phone sensor could damage, just like any other image sensors point directly at the sun, especially if it's using any type of sort of magnifying lens on your phone, so it can really mess up your phone. You pay a thousand dollars for a phone facts, what you don't blame eclipse I mean.
Speaker 1I don't know if that's covered under the warranty play it was definitely wow, wow. I tell you there was some really beautiful pictures, though my wife called it uh live, yeah, this like images like this.
Speaker 2But uh, just posted a nice video. If you guys click on it, my boy got a nice yeah nice. Uh, I don't know if you can play that through the group chat there or not.
Speaker 1We have it here. We dropped it here.
Speaker 2Is this your agreement? Yeah, click on that. He got a nice view of it. It's a nice little video.
Speaker 1I don't know if this is a video. This looks like it's just a screenshot. Let me see. Let me see. General, I will say that, uh, marlene also got a really nice one on um from the news, I guess when it was going over dallas, um, or mexico, one of them where it just like the, the, everything disappeared and then all of a sudden you had this perfect ring around the sun, um, but that the other thing that's really crazy about these eclipses this is like one of those things that have me thinking. You know, like um, like the moon was purposely put where it was put at, because it's perfectly at the perfect distance that it needs to be to be from the sun moon to the earth so that the moon can actually eclipse the sun. Like y'all y'all not really like catch that in terms of like, how brilliant that is. That's pretty fascinating.
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't know. It's like really just having me question and like where, where and what all this stuff and when does it all come? You know, where does it come from? Question about God, question about, you know, creative creation and stuff like that, because this is something like really amazing If you think about it, like everybody in the world can see this happen and everything is perfectly aligned. I don't know Something's going on.
Speaker 2Yep, check out that video. I want to get your reaction while we're on the podcast here.
Speaker 1So it's, all natural.
Speaker 2So yeah, my boy got a nice, nice shot of that yesterday so he sent it to me. But yeah, it's a nice little video. I don't know if it has any audio. Yeah, it doesn't have any audio. So whoa. So?
Speaker 3my boy got a nice shot of that.
Speaker 2Yesterday he said that to me raymond, you, you're hilarious bro.
Speaker 1uh, we got to keep this show rated pg bro, we got a shot of it yesterday, wanted to share it with my brother, all right so y'all got to see this exclusive inside of our Discord here.
Speaker 3I have no part of this. I have no part of this.
Speaker 1And you'll see the name of the person that posted it Raymond, with some good entertainment early this morning, my gosh bro.
Speaker 3Back to our original program. Yeah, thank you. What's?
Speaker 1next up D-Hustle.
Speaker 3Elon Musk, elon Musk.
Speaker 1What's up, Elon he?
Speaker 3predicts superhuman AI will be smarter than people next year.
Speaker 1Ooh, superhuman AI will be smarter.
Speaker 3I was talking about your last segment.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3About Mr Raymond.
The Impact of AI on Society
Speaker 2Don't call me Ray Ray, he's going gonna be terrified yeah, yeah, I'm saying all right, so just getting more into this. I mean, you guys are not afraid of like all the deep fakes that ai is doing I mean it's, it's definitely um got the deep fakes of taylor swift. Yes, people thought they were real of her. You got aoc now. Now there's a pandemic in high schools where yeah they're like getting naked pictures of the girls and stuff and people think they're real yeah I mean think about your daughters and your nieces.
Speaker 2This stuff is scary. Yeah, this is the stuff that I'm, not just the jobs, just this type of stuff that ai can do. It's just it's. It's scary. I mean, you don't even know if it's real.
Speaker 1I get you and, and I think the last time we talked about this, especially when you have the same energy I said do you remember how it was when the Internet was first created? Right?
Speaker 1It's like all of the things that, because of the Internet, has been created the bad things that happen, but also the good things that happen. Right, it's like we couldn't predict the value of what the Internet would have been when it first came out. Right, if we only focused on the bad things, then we would probably throw on the internet and the garbage and we'd still be using rotary phones and um you know so, just so.
Speaker 1What you're saying to me is that you guys will not have a superhuman AI if they're passing them out, I'm going to get one.
Speaker 3This goes back to remember the Y2K, uh-huh uh-huh. We're going to all die. It's the last.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3I was living that life, I was excited.
Speaker 1D-House was like I'm ready, I'm ready.
Speaker 2All the computers are not going to turn on and stuff.
Speaker 1Yeah, we just yeah, computers are not going to turn on and stuff. Yeah, we just yeah. Well, that's what I'm saying, like we, we focus on the worst part of it, but hey um, what are the good things that ai is doing? Tell me I mean, in my opinion, I think that it's going to change the way that we live our lives for the best. I think they're going to be terrible things like in terms of like education. I think it's going to definitely level up education. I'm glad you brought up education.
Speaker 2I just read an a couple of days ago where teachers are using AI now to grade the essays.
Speaker 1Yes, they are.
Speaker 2And people are freaking out about it. They said that's not ethical, why not? What do you mean?
Speaker 3why not how?
Speaker 2are you going to use AI to grade my kid's essay? Okay, like you're a teacher, use your brain, read it. Use the human element. What do you mean? Ah, use the human, so you're okay with the teachers just grading a kid's essay.
Speaker 3Yes and no Number one. I'm not okay with them using it, but if that's what they have to use, to work it because, if you don't see, nowadays you're able to use tablets in school.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, but they still got to use their brain to write it Still teachers these days are not getting paid what they need to get paid.
Speaker 1Facts, facts. I just learned about one of my daughter's teacher and how much he makes.
Speaker 3They have to deal with our fucking kids. That's their choice, which we're not listening.
Speaker 2That's their choice to go into that field.
Speaker 3I mean I praise all teachers, but you can't talk to them, though that's what they do, my kid has to use his brain to write the essay, but they're not using their brain. How did you get your degree. A teacher did not help you out with that.
Speaker 1A teacher taught me all I'm going to say is, if you think about what the teacher is doing, they're able to get through more by using this. If they have 100 students and it takes them 5 minutes a student to read through them, that's a lot of time, rather than just putting it into the AI and then 5 minutes it and it takes them five minutes a student to read through them.
Speaker 3That's a lot of time.
Speaker 1There's a lot of things changing, rather than just putting it into the AI and then five minutes it reads all 100 students and gives you a report. Right, and they can influence the AI. It's not like it's an AI that's dumb. It's an AI that you potentially could influence on how it teaches, how it learns or how it grades. Right. It's not going to grade it at a college level. If they're in elementary school it's going to be like, hey, this is a student in third grade and they have difficulties with putting words together. Can you give me an evaluation of this essay? And that's it? Right? That's going to be the output or the input, and then the output is what the AI generates, what I'm saying.
Speaker 3A lot of things has been changing.
Speaker 1We used to do christmas tree on tests yeah, we do tests on the laptop did you hear what he said he used to do christmas trees on the test? Yes, I used to only pick c.
Speaker 3You know a lot of things, I. I don't care, man. If they want to use it, that's fine yeah, at the end of the day, it's the schools has to pay for the ai.
Speaker 1It's same for free yeah, I mean it's definitely going to be like they're going to have to use it. They got to keep up, the teachers got to keep up or they're going to get left behind if not, this is like raymond said it's not your profession.
Speaker 2I don't know what I'm saying raymond said it was your choice it just doesn't seem ethical, like the article saying, it doesn't seem ethical that you're using AI to create essays and stuff, so let me ask you this you got to program it, right?
Speaker 1Yeah, you got to program it and you got to tell them the correct answer, facts.
Speaker 3So all they're doing is just like your lottery you put that in and give you whatever number it is. Come right back up.
Speaker 1Facts, facts.
Speaker 2D right back up facts, facts.
Speaker 1D hustle's right. Right, that's what I was going to ask you like. How do you actually feel about an ai being programmed on your consciousness? I don't like it, you don't like it, no, so that you could be like 10 times more effective or 10 times more efficient I don't like it you don't like it.
Speaker 1No, so that's what they're using they. They're using the idea, the concept of being able to take the way that you think. Like D Hustle, say, program that AI to be like you, and then that AI would be in representation of you because you've programmed it or you've provided input on how you think. So technically, it's only following what you define in the program or you define in the prompts. You still don't like it.
Speaker 2I still don't like it Raymond.
Speaker 1how are you going to survive, bro?
Speaker 2I know, I have to adapt, but I think we should. You know, baby steps, Baby steps.
Speaker 1How slow do you think we should go?
Speaker 2Baby steps you got to crawl before you walk.
Speaker 1I do agree about baby steps because it's only been two years.
Speaker 3Isn't that what jazz GPT is about? Yeah, that's baby, baby steps, because it's only been two years.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's two years. It is baby steps.
Speaker 2So you have to use it but it's look, look how many steps it took in just two years and it's making deep fakes of people like anything could like turn the election this year too. You know all the, you know I mean it's pretty scary. So yeah, I think political or nothing.
Speaker 1But no, but I think a lot of people always think of the the more, uh, bad part of the whole situation rather than the good part. Right, imagine if I were to say that AI actually saves the election because it's able to detect that there are a lot of deep fakes out there. Right? It's like hey, let's say that you get something in your thread and then all of a sudden, instagram, facebook and twitter automatically starts to put hey, might be ai generated on it?
Speaker 1right, that's using ai to detect ai yeah, right, that's cool I mean that combats this idea that we would be unintentionally like, uh, persuade in one way without actually knowing that. Hey, this is ai generated and I'm being persuaded right. Right is, I think there's a lot of safeguards that should be in place. Um, but at the speed that this thing is moving, bro, yeah, it's crazy like, um, there's there's no way to hold it back other than them shutting it all down, and I don't think they can shut it down yeah, I really don't.
Speaker 1Yeah, they're already deep in yeah, they're more than knee deep in, but just like the eclipse, yeah yeah.
Speaker 2So, speaking of eclipse, one of the goons went to the hospital because he stared at the eclipse yesterday. Oh my, gosh, yeah. I wonder how many hospital visits, yeah, were increased by yesterday my favorite day of the year is this day to see how many people went to the hospital. Oh, lord and stuff like that.
Speaker 1I bet you if it was an ai, if it was a superhuman. But I guess back to elon musk. Elon musk is making a lot of production about ai. Um, him and I are not on this. On the uh, how can I say talking terms right now?
Speaker 3um, elon you had a fight with him yesterday. What's going on?
Speaker 1I mean, elon and I mean elon, don't be a check kid. I mean I'm trying to make sure you know he settles up on that before speaking of your former employer and elon I don't know if you read that elon is turning the corner with the twitter now what is he doing?
Speaker 2he's gonna, you know, give these celebrities the blue check.
Learning Languages and Phishing Tactics
Speaker 1They don't have to pay for it because the platform is floundering, so whatever, whatever let me tell you something about the blue check real quick. So I remember when, when I was working at twitter, uh, one of the things that they did was, uh, they tested out employees to make sure that they would not click on emails. It's called phishing, it's in cyber security, it's a concept that kind of like validates the human part of um, like, uh, breaking into systems. So one of the things that they used to do to new employees is they used to send you an email that says hey, do you want to get a blue check? Right? And it was like oh shit, let me click on this email. And then you read through it and it's like yeah, if you want to get this email, click on this link here, before some mysterious link. You click on the link and then ask this for your username and password. I type in my username and password. Boom, it says no access. All right, let me try it again. Username and password. And it says oop, you're in right, wait for an email. Tell me why.
Speaker 1A minute later, I get an email from the it security department saying hey, um, did you just click on this email? Um, did you just sign up for a blue check? Because employees can't do and qualify for blue checks. I actually need you to attend this security class so that we can tell you what you need to be ready for. And it was one of the craziest things in terms of getting fished in real life because of the damn blue check. So it is a very valuable asset for everybody and for him to take it away the way they take it away and then say, hey, you can pay for it. Then anybody can do it. Yeah, it's weak, it devalues the product.
Speaker 2Devalues the product but you know he's turned the corner. Now he's given some, you know news organizations and very important people the blue check for free yeah well so you got to pay for a blue yes, yeah, eight dollars a month
Speaker 1yes, the house is like oh so, so that that's the hustle, huh so.
Speaker 3I get the blue check and basically I'm supposed to be on top.
Speaker 1Yeah, and that's the thing right. That's why it's like the blue check and technically, Twitter kind of invented that blue check concept.
Speaker 3I thought it was just to say you verify.
Speaker 2Well, it's verify, but you're important.
Speaker 3Yeah, you're like a celebrity Even though I could be a nobody.
Speaker 2I still be important Now. Yeah, I could be a nobody. I'd still be important Now. Before it was only for important people.
Speaker 1Well, I wouldn't say important people. It's kind of validated that you are who you say you are, because there could be like 20 Drake accounts. But is that really Drake? Oh, the one with the blue check? Yeah, that's really Drake type stuff that make sense.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1But hey, elon is doing what he's doing. Hey yo, if you're listening to this podcast, mr Muss, come and holler at your boy. I got a backstage with Bobby D that we're waiting for you, so holler at him.
Speaker 3I agree to that man. I got questions myself. I definitely got questions myself.
Speaker 1Mr Muss, let's see if we can really talk about AI.
Speaker 3We're going to have to extend this interview.
Speaker 1I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. We'll see if we hit his algorithm.
Speaker 2Alright.
Speaker 1We got up next my guy Raymond. Don't call him Ray, ray. You've been on the mic for a minute, though, but what you got today, kid.
Speaker 2I got two nuggets here for you guys. I'm gonna kind of go a different route here. I'm gonna go the education route for the first one here.
Speaker 3Oh shit, here we go. Question for you guys, bobby D D shit.
Speaker 2Yeah, here we go. Question for you guys Bobby D D Hustle. How many languages do you guys speak?
Speaker 3I speak three, Three Really. Oh okay, English, Spanish and slang.
Speaker 1Oh okay, Nice Look at my guy Look at my guy, give him a round of applause.
Speaker 2Well-langued Nice.
Speaker 1Because that slang though? Yeah, actually I'm laughing because last night on Jeopardy they had a column. One of the column things be slang words. Oh really, yeah, it was funny watching these white people join.
Speaker 2That's funny. Yeah, I got a good slang story. I'll tell you guys, so yeah.
Speaker 1How about me? You didn't even ask me. Kid.
Speaker 2How many languages do you speak, Bobby?
Speaker 1I speak uh two and a quarter two.
Speaker 2Two point five okay, two point, no, no, no. Two point two okay, I've never heard of that.
Speaker 1One okay, so english and then spanish. I just be looking at you in your eyes and that's how we get I can speak a little Creole myself.
Speaker 3Yeah, exactly so Cool, cool. How about you, raymond?
Speaker 2Two.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah. Why are you always so confused about the second one, bro Two?
Speaker 2Well, I wish I spoke Spanish. I took Spanish For three years and I don't know Anything outside of you know, asking when the bathroom is 2.5, raymond, 2.5 for you, and I know my numbers.
Speaker 1Up to 10, I think. So, yeah, he can survive in Miami. He can survive in Miami.
Speaker 2But yeah. So the reason why I ask is there's this guy at my Toastmasters club. Big, big nerd, this guy's a big nerd Big.
Speaker 3You know always Shout out to the nerd, Shout out to the nerd, Shout out to the nerds.
Speaker 2Hugh Nguyen, that's his, oh my.
Speaker 3God man.
Speaker 2But this guy speaks Klingon. You guys know what Klingon is.
Speaker 1Oh my gosh, don't tell me that's a Star Trek kind of like Bobby D nailed it right on the head, the nail on the head. You remember the guy with the forehead, with the wrinkles on his forehead? That's exactly, and he was black. Right, wasn't he black?
Speaker 2Yeah, he was like a black alien. Did you ever watch star trek? Yeah, yeah, what was his name? What was that character's name? I can't remember. Yeah, so, but um, but yeah, no, you hit the nail right on the head there. Bobby d, yes, uh, that was their language. Whatever, those aliens were called the hustle or somebody's looking it up here on star trek, that main character, the black one with thing right on his forehead heck, was his name, but whatever. Anyways, those guys spoke klingon. It's a made-up language, but this guy in my toastmasters club speaks klingon and how do you?
Speaker 3how does that conversation start?
Speaker 2that's what. Yeah, he gave a speech about it and I was like what the heck? This guy speaks klingon, so it's like the language that they spoke on star trek and we were all curious like how the heck did you learn how to speak klingon? It's a the language that they spoke on Star Trek and we were all curious like how the heck did you learn how to speak Klingon? It's a fake language from a freaking sci-fi show and this guy learned it from Duolingo. So Duolingo I don't know if you guys have heard of it.
Speaker 1Wow.
Speaker 2Duolingo is a free website where you can learn another language, any language, including Klingon Wow, yes, klingon. So any language including klingon? Wow, yes, klingon. So duolingo, check it out. They have an app. They have a free website. If you want to learn spanish, klingon, um, you know, portuguese, chinese, whatever, check them out creole duolingo, so yeah, and also you can learn klingon and on there as well, so check it out. So yeah, guys, is that wild, yeah, is that crazy.
Speaker 3His name is Jordita, jordita LaFord.
Speaker 2Jordita LaFord, really.
Speaker 3I guess he was the encounter at Fairpoint the Commodore. Lieutenant Commodore interesting.
Speaker 1Yeah, but I definitely remember that forehead though okay.
Speaker 2So yeah, you gonna pick up some Klingon there, bobby D or what nah, I'm good In your spare time. No, I don't know where you can use it at, but you'd impress the Star Trek nerds.
Speaker 1That's exactly what I'll be impressing, is those Star Trek nerds?
Speaker 2Yeah, so yeah, If you're interested in learning another language, check it out Duolingo guys.
Speaker 3Duolingo. That's crazy.
Speaker 2Yeah, free website, their website. You can learn any language for free and they also have an app. His name is Commodore Worf. Commodore Worf Hmm, interesting, I thought his name was something else. Okay, Commodore Worf.
Speaker 3Been a while since I watched that show.
Speaker 2Yeah, I used to love Star Trek growing up.
Speaker 1You know Captain Picard and everything like that, so yeah, I think they got a new young black lady, black turd.
Speaker 3I haven't kept up. I apologize.
Speaker 1A big shout out to all our Star Trek fans out there.
Speaker 2Shout out Star Trek, Star Wars. I know that's like a civil war.
Speaker 3I was just curious Did he get his interview just the same way, speaking like that?
Speaker 2What? The guy from Toastmasters? Yeah, well, he just gave a speech about it, like did he actually speak it while he was he did? It freaked us all out yeah, it was impressive and it was like wow. So yeah, there was some star trek nerds yeah in the, you know, in the room that were like impressed so they're like one of you going to interview with the star trek.
Speaker 3Is the guy gonna look at you weird? I mean, hey, man, hey, if he did it, I would say the the the interviewer has to be a fan of Star Trek. Yeah, of course, absolutely yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, you have to yeah, for sure. You have to be like a freak Star Wars fan Right Right, Right Like how would you even know what that language sounds?
Speaker 3like. I mean like.
Speaker 2Comic.
Speaker 1Con yeah, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2Comic imagine you walking in the interview.
Speaker 3And then the other person has one yeah, cleon is coming out off the rip, exactly right.
Speaker 2Yeah, that'll be fired up oh my gosh, yeah, so all right, so we got.
Speaker 1Uh well, what is the dual lingo?
Speaker 2dual lingo. Check it out, guys. Yeah, if you want to learn any language for free so including cling on.
Speaker 1All right, what's up next, raymond?
Speaker 2uh, final one is you know, we're always seeing the news about people getting hacked and stuff like that. Um, we have a million and million passwords how do you guys?
Speaker 1save your passwords or keep track of them, bobby man, passwords are probably like, uh, the worst thing ever created in my opinion, bro. Um, because I don't know if you have a parent, but I have an in-law, um, and she never remembers passwords. Um, she writes them down everywhere on papers, um, and actually don't ever remember to look at them and then ask me to reset the password for her every time.
Speaker 3Um, it's, it's probably shout out to that lady that's my mom's let's get the shit out right now. It's my mother. She's old school mentality, all right.
Speaker 2It's all right. I love you, bernie. Yeah, wow, all right.
Speaker 1So passwords have been the death to me, bro. Like seriously, If you're not using a password.
Speaker 3Old school mentality, yeah, mentality, yeah, no matter what. She won't even put it on her phone yeah, wow, okay, well, um, that's interesting.
Speaker 2I don't know if the solution would help her out. I mean, I think it works, okay, you just have to know where the passwords is. That if you're writing on the piece of paper, put it somewhere, store.
Password Management Tools
Speaker 2Yeah, this would definitely be better than the paper, so maybe this would help her out. So, like, yeah, I'm trying to teach my kids on how to, like you, know their passwords for their iPads and the websites that they use. I immediately forced them to document it. So I make them go into Google Drive Maybe it's not the most efficient way, but they have a document in there called passwords and you need to protect it. But I have them document literally everything. I make them go ahead and write the website username, password.
Speaker 1You're teaching them well, right. So I I'm trying, but there's a better tool that we could use, a better tool that we can use. What is the tool?
Speaker 2there's a tool here. It's called bit warden, so it is one of the more commonly used websites or apps out there. It is a necessity if you have a million passwords 100 so they have a free and personal use. If you're going to use it for personal use, you have unlimited passwords and unlimited accounts you can put on there and it's more than enough for anybody. The passwords and your stuff is completely encrypted. The people at bitwarden cannot see or read any of your information so it's a password manager.
Speaker 2It it's called Bitwarden. Yeah, it's compatible across all platforms Linux, apple, windows. Check it out. If you have a problem like your mother-in-law, you know writing passwords down on a piece of paper, this could be a solution for her, where it captures all your passwords for you.
Speaker 3So Bitwarden, it's free. I think it's a good plug, a good gem, but I think some people have to take the initiative to write these things down, slash, you'll put it in there, Because nine times out of ten a lot of people save their passwords on their phones and then forget the password.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3For sure, I would definitely like it's just an app, you download it.
Speaker 1Yeah, it'll help you out a lot. Yeah, I would definitely say it's like just don't forget this password, that's true, you're screwed.
Speaker 2If you forget this password, then, yeah, there's no help for you. Don't forget this password, right? Yeah, there's no help for you, so yeah.
Speaker 1And then, after you get this password, then you can store all your passwords. And yeah, you are right, raymond, password managers are basically the way to go, because they can generate really lengthy passwords, randomize, and the way that I like to teach people, especially when we start talking about password management, is actually you shouldn't know the password, you should only know one password, correct One password, which is the password manager Yep.
Speaker 1That's what I have, yeah, and there's other password managers out there and I kind of put a plug in there for one password being one of them.
Speaker 3Oh OK, Last pass is another one.
Speaker 2Last pass.
Speaker 1And then the one that you dropped here what is called again?
Speaker 2Bit Warden.
Speaker 1Bit Warden is really really like. If you're not already using a password manager, definitely enable it. How do you feel about the password manager on your iPhone, though, Because you know we got a password manager there?
Speaker 2We do that. One's pretty good. Actually, you know you have to. It's pretty good, but sometimes, like, if you don't update the password, then you know Apple's still using your old password. So that is kind of the thing you have to update the password within Apple if you update it on the website, so it's pretty good, though, actually.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But this one is more cross-platform, so you can carry it, not just from your iphone. Yeah, you can use your laptop to your workstation. You can use it on multiple devices, unlimited passwords, unlimited devices. So, yeah, this is better than apple, so you can use it across platforms, like I said. So, yeah, that's what's up. That's what's up.
Speaker 1Well, thank you for that nugget, raymond, and of course, if you are looking for a password manager, bit warden is, uh, definitely something we're going to have posted out there. Now, raymond, um and I'm going to talk to whoever owns bit warden and um, dual lingo. My guy is giving y'all some free promotion here. If, if y'all didn't know how well we do on this station here called the tech hustle podcast, um, y'all need to start sending us checks, free access to this stuff, because we out here promoting your stuff off rip. So thank you, raymond, for making a plug, and you Bitwarden and Duolingo, the other one, holla at your boy D Hustle's here. He got it, he sponsorships and all that stuff. We'll make sure it happens.
Speaker 1Sounds good I like it, I like it. Send us a check or two. All right, fellas, raymond. Again, thank you so much for them, nuggets. Uh, very much appreciate it. Uh, and we're going to jump right into our final section over here. We're going to talk about some current event, sports, what's up?
Sports Updates and Trade Talk
Speaker 3d hustle. What's good player? What's going on? Bobby d. Getting back to these beautiful sports situation here, before I go into further stuff, shout-outs and prayers to that big, humongous earthquake that happened over there. Hope everybody's good and well-being Didn't they have an earthquake in New York. Also, I had an earthquake in New York. I didn't think New York had earthquakes, oh my gosh, that's crazy.
Speaker 2That was a little shocking to me. You know, what's funny is I saw uh first take. I watched first take every day and I saw molly was like literally shaking when the hurricane happened well, earthquake, earthquake happened, yeah, molly queer room.
Speaker 1So yeah, yeah, that's something's going on an eclipse, earthquake, I don't know. Yeah, yeah but yeah condolence and out to the mall for real, though.
Speaker 3El Nino, el Nino. Yeah, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. Nhl Hockey's almost done. Yeah, playoffs is going on. I don't know if you guys watched that.
Speaker 2Go Panthers.
Speaker 3Go Panthers second place. They clinched it. I feel good about it. Did you guys watch the college basketball Purdue Purdue versus UConn?
Speaker 2Oh, I heard Last night, right Last night, back to back champs, uconn, back to back champs, shout out to them yeah.
Speaker 3They got a good organization. Men's and women's basketball Yep, good stuff over there. Yeah, they knocked it out, man. They're a good record 37-3. Purdue almost had it. Every time I think about Purdue, I think about that Purdue chicken. You know that commercial. Purdue chicken. Imagine going to school. Where are you going? Purdue chicken? What University? No, but yeah, they got a.
Speaker 1Chick-fil-A here, always on campus.
Speaker 3NFL draft is coming up. I don't know if you guys seen that April 25th if you haven't seen, but I really want to talk about how they did Stefan Diggs. I don't know if you guys seen that.
Speaker 2How Stefan?
Speaker 3Diggs traded from the Bills to.
Speaker 2Houston, I did see that. Yeah, I am not mad about that at all. No, no.
Speaker 3Just because you're a Miami fan that's basically what it is, oh yeah.
Speaker 2Eat it, Josh Allen.
Speaker 1Oh, get him out of our region. Yes, that's going to be a nice Two wins for us. Oh, you calling already. Oh yeah, he was yeah.
Speaker 2That's their best player Outside of Josh Allen.
Speaker 3Yeah, so Well, let's see what happens, man. I mean, they traded him For a 2024 Sixth round Draft pick, a 2025 Fifth round In exchange for A 2025 Second round. So I don't know who you thought Was the winner there.
Speaker 2But I don't know who you thought was the winner there, but Definitely not the Bills, not the Bills Wow, they lost a lot.
Speaker 1Patience, that's what they're saying. Yeah, they're going back to the drawing board. Well, he had a bad attitude.
Speaker 2It was kind of funny Like he made a comment on Twitter and then an hour later he was traded. Wow.
Speaker 1Yeah, they don't play.
Speaker 3No, they don't.
Speaker 1So, yeah, there's been a lot going on in the NFL man A lot of re-signing, a lot of people getting cut Any news on the Giants that you want to bring?
Speaker 2up. Nah, it's garbage. We're over here, we're trying to get rid of Daniel.
Speaker 3Jones and trying to figure out what's going on. They're doing a whole bunch of defensive crap, listen to me right now. I'm looking at you guys straight over here so you guys can see me, if you guys need assistance in the nfl for the giants. Holler at me, email me, tweet me, linkedin me, do whatever you need, because we need to talk that's a good.
Speaker 1My guy all right, he's ready to talk. I need y'all now to come through.
Speaker 3I can't be dealing with these dolphins?
Speaker 2I'm notphins fans.
Speaker 3Let me get them back. Cowboys fans, the Eagles fans. Come on man, let's talk real deep here, but it is what it is Give my guy DeHussell a call, he's ready, yeah call me man. I don't even have to get paid for any of that stuff, but you want to give me some seats?
Speaker 1He said send me the jet I. We got to talk man.
Speaker 3We got to talk about what's going on over there. Man, just call me man, please, why are you saying? Please, I can't afford to have a crazy year.
Speaker 2You guys need a new quarterback.
Speaker 1Wow man.
Speaker 3Saquon left to the opposing. This is a lot of crap, man. This is hard to take.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3But it is what it is. Other than that man Going into your Beautiful basketball Basketball is looking good. Shout out to my Knicks Hello, Stop playing around this guy.
Speaker 1This guy, no J.
Speaker 3No, no, julius Randle, and we're still in fourth place. Listen, I got that's a lot of.
Speaker 1How many games Y'all in now? What do you mean? How many games? How many games y'all played so?
Speaker 3far. They played 46 games and lost 32 so far. Okay, okay, yeah, yeah, 16 games behind Boston, but I don't think we're never going to catch up to Boston.
Speaker 1So let's be realistic. They're in third place. Boston no number one. First place in Milwaukee.
Speaker 3And, for some reason I can't believe, shout out to Orlando.
Speaker 2I don't know how they made it to third place. Yeah, orlando's really doing it, yeah.
Speaker 1That confuses the shit out of me it does. They're making a run for it.
Speaker 3Yeah, making a run to the border, because that's the closest they're going to get.
Speaker 2Orlando is doing their thing.
Speaker 3Yeah, and then 76 is. I'm Amazing. Seventh place and Shout out to the Heat Never let me down. Eighth place, confused on that, you guys should be like in at least third or fourth place, but again, jimmy Butler is Jimmy Butler, jimmy Butler is Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 2They didn't get. You know, the guy who went to Milwaukee.
Speaker 1Milwaukee. Yeah, the other guy yeah.
Speaker 3Listen, if you guys could figure out how that land, that dollar, is there. I see you guys being a phenomenal contender, maybe even taking it, but you guys didn't want to make that payment. I don't know what Pat Riley is doing out there, I mean you got to look at the numbers, kid.
Speaker 1I mean, Miami ain't like it used to be.
Speaker 3Yeah well, yeah yeah, it is what it is. And then the west side Minnesota phenomenal this is number one. Minnesota phenomenal, this is number one. Took over Denver.
Speaker 1I didn't expect that, but hey, I take it, I did not either too yeah.
Speaker 3Anthony Edwards, shout out over there Denver second Lakers are in ninth place. They was in eighth, now they're in ninth.
Speaker 2Yeah, again still in tournament, yeah.
Speaker 3So back to that in tournament. I don't know if you guys Are aware how that procedure works. I know you were asking for it, yeah yeah, how does that work?
Speaker 2Huh, is it 7 through 10?
Speaker 3It's 7 through 10, correct, so there are 3 games. The first game, I guess Number 7, number 8, and the winner of number 7 Goes on to the playoffs. The losing team Gets another chance On that Friday. What Second game is going to be? Each team from each conference, number nine and number 10, and the winner will be moving to the third game, which is the third, and the loser will be eliminated and he'll be able to enter the NBA lottery Got it.
Speaker 3Third game, of course the loser is 7A will match up and the winners of number nine and 10 will match up and the victorias will be the each conference to the number eight seed and the loser of the number three game will enter the nba draft lottery, so it looks like your lakers might have a chance again shout outs to those guys uh what?
Speaker 1what seat are they at right now? They're number nine. They're number nine, but they have to come back from.
Speaker 3They have to come back this week. They have to prove that they're able to make it happen to be in the championship.
Speaker 2That would be crazy.
Speaker 3So 10th place is Golden State. So it looks like Golden State might have to go against Los Angeles in order to be in. So, at the end of the day, who you got? Steph or LeBron? Oh, I mean.
Speaker 1A healthy Steph or LeBron? Oh, I mean.
Speaker 2A healthy AD and LeBron is going to beat the Golden State Warriors. You think so, but AD is hurt right now, so he's.
Speaker 3How he's hurt.
Speaker 2Like I said, the guy you blow on him, he gets hurt. No D, so yeah, that's true.
Speaker 3I mean he is day toto-day on my fantasy. I mean, listen, if you're hearing me, ad, I need you to step up, man, I need to win this championship. I'm in the championship, all right, let me give a shout-out to all the competitors out there that try to go against me. You're lost.
Speaker 2I'm going to camp.
Speaker 3AD Step up.
Speaker 2I need you See how serious he takes his fantasy basketball. Don't count on him.
Speaker 3No, but I think he's going to play, hurt or not, because he's got something to prove yeah yeah, yeah, I mean, come on, you've got a chance to come back.
Speaker 1He can't do it by himself. Who LeBron?
Speaker 3No AD.
Speaker 1Oh, AD can't do it by himself.
Speaker 3He can't do it. Yeah, I mean Russell. My man Reeves shout out to my man, austin Reeves Balling white boy. That's like the next white chocolate for me, bro, he's making moves out there, but yeah, man other than that. If you guys haven't seen basketball this week, it's time to see it.
