Apple Retakes Market Cap Crown

SPEAKER_03All right. Apple has value up to 4.88 trillion, and NVIDIA has capitalized and failed to 4.86. So you're looking at two million less, but 4.86 trillion. Yeah. Dropped 8.5%. Apple has held the top spot in April last year.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Give give Apple a big round of applause. Two they would be back on they took the crown back.
SPEAKER_03I have no fucking idea of how Apple's number one with the same fucking bullshit as fucking the same phone, same square, rectangular fucking shape. What what are they doing? Is what I want to know.
SPEAKER_02They're making money, player. That's what they're doing. They're not designing much, but they're definitely making money, bro. What?
SPEAKER_04But you gotta realize too, you know, the app store, like everyone wants to be on there. Yeah. They just, yes, they don't make the you know, the hardware, but the app store.

App Store Payments And Developer Fees
SPEAKER_02definitely hiding it. But Julius, I um have a new app that's coming out. Um, it's called Jordy Shield. And it's basically an app that's gonna run on the iPhone. But one thing that we ran into with the iPhone is if we're gonna be collecting money at all, iPhone says you have to use their payment system. So let's say that you have an app that you're building and you're gonna buy it for or sell it for $1.99, you have to use Apple payment system. You can't use anything else. So we had to submit an app and we're trying to get around it and say, hey, just go to Stripe and pay for it, and Apple denied our app. Explicitly saying you have to use our payment system. So if you have an app that you want to actually run on Apple, you have to design it in a way that uses Apple's payment system. Um, and that's how they guarantee all this bread that they get.
SPEAKER_04That's messed up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and if they look in the app and there's anything outside of that, they deny it. They shut it down. They shut it down. So what's the percentage? Um, I think oh actually I gotta check it, but I think it's like five to ten percent, depending on the app. Um Apple um app percentage.
SPEAKER_04That's the thing. Whether they you don't buy their phones or not, they gotta make their money other ways.
SPEAKER_02Exactly.
SPEAKER_04It's it's that's just greed, man.
SPEAKER_02It I mean, it's it's basically them. Oh, I apologize. Thirty, fifteen to thirty percent commission. Ooh. That was 30% commission.
SPEAKER_04That was the whole remember when Fortnite was suing them for years and years. That was the thing. It had to go to court. Yeah, because they didn't want to do that, they didn't want to pay that fee.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So Yeah, it's 30% for standard, 15% for small businesses. So we fit in the small business realm. Oh, okay. Yeah, so that's why we were trying to figure out what the rate was. Uh, but yeah, 30%. Yeah. And that's just for utilizing their platform and offering your services. So you asked how they got to four or something trillion dollars? Yes.

I don't see uh Google or slash uh Samsung doing stuff like that. So good for you. I mean, you're you know I don't know who thought about those colors. Give that person a raise. Yeah, yeah. Give us some diversity there.
SPEAKER_02Um but uh just to answer the question, Nvidia was the first $5 trillion company at the beginning of the year, and then they've come back down to 4.0 something. Um but I was trying to see if if uh Apple was on that same track, but they'll be at $5 trillion sooner than later. But damn, I can't believe we're talking trillions.

You know, Intel coming. Well, yeah, other than that, that's that's how it is in these beautiful modern warfare, which usually the game comes out in November. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03Usually comes around like around November 2nd. I know because every year used to be the wife's birthday, and that's what I'll get her for a fucking birthday gift. Call of Duty.
SPEAKER_02You used to get Leslie Call of Duty, yeah.
SPEAKER_03She she g I used to give it to her every year. Every time it came out, she gets it, she plays the shit every two days, she finishes it and then it just collects dust. Yeah, she she plays the story and that's it. She plays the story as a done deal, she passed it as a done deal. Maybe I might do that this year. Yeah, you never know, spicing it up a little bit. But then it's gonna be a problem because then now it's gonna be in Jordan's room. Uh-huh.

Yeah, I said, say, and then I was just there, just dunking, just doing it. He goes, How you did that? I was like, Yo, listen, I used to play this. And uh fourth quarter, I was up by like 20 something, and he brought that boy came back and just bust my butt. I was like, Yeah, and then he was he was on fire, but everything he went. I was like, Man, this shit is rigged. That was pretty much yeah.
SPEAKER_02Actually, I was watching him play the other day, and uh he didn't pick the bulls. He was who was he playing with? Um, I can't remember the team. Um, but he was playing with just one player. But the way that he was playing was actually kind of like the first time that I thought about playing sports games like that. Because for me, whenever I played sports game, I'm switching from one player to the next player. Like, whoever has the ball, I'm playing as them. For him, he's like, no, I passed the ball, he still stays this person, and he's waiting for them to pass it back. So his style of playing for me was actually a little bit refreshing to be like, man, he's actually playing as that character rather than hey, let me just play anybody on the team. I'm going to watch it again with my kids, and I cannot wait. My kids haven't seen it. I watched it with my girl. It's amazing. Like, I cannot stop thinking about this movie. I can't stop talking about it. Like, at first I was a little bit nervous because you know they had dropped the first final trailer a couple weeks ago, and I don't know if you guys saw, it got more dislikes than likes. From from the last trailer? From the last trailer, because there's a lot of like, you know, political stuff. People were like complaining, they didn't like the cast and all that. And I was nervous. I was like, oh god. And then once they dropped the official reviews on there on Rotten Tomatoes and the official people who get to watch it first, it got a 96%. I started feeling better. I went and watched it on Friday. That movie is amazing.

Mythology type stuff, like his swords, okay and uh like all right.

Odyssey Review And Best Screen Advice
SPEAKER_02spinning this much on the movie.
SPEAKER_04Not even, even if they spend more, just the acting, the story, like the I'm not giving anything away, like, you know, even like we all know there's monsters in there and stuff like that. It's just I'm gonna get to that in my second part. Like, this movie is just it's like even the one-liners, bro. Like, when that thing releases on streaming, those one-liners from the one character, the villain on there, that guy who played the villain, yeah. Like he made me want to punch the screen. Like, I didn't want a villain to I didn't hate a villain. So you know, like a movie, you know a movie is good when you like want that villain to like it gets you mad. Like you want, you know what I'm saying? That's how good this movie was. Like, yeah, I I mean I can't wait for you to watch it the answer. It's and get your take, but I'm saying hands down, like step out of the way, nothing's gonna beat this movie.

SPEAKER_03There isn't like the shooting or like the uh with this movie, they did basically um a different angle. Um if you watch it in regular movies, you there's some of them, some scenes are a little bit cut off that you're not able to see the full screen. So it's recommended as a 70 millimeter uh yeah, millimeter, right? Yeah, yeah. Millimeter screen. Yeah, it's there's not a lot around here in Florida. You have to catch someone, but IMAX will do. Yeah. Um so you can get the full experience of that of that movie.

SPEAKER_04What's crazy is we're saying about IMA, I don't know if this is true, but someone was saying in the whole country, there's only like 50 or less IMAX theaters. Is that true?
SPEAKER_03No, no, there's some IMAX theaters everywhere uh that you can see. I mean, there's some locations that may not have it, uh, but the 70 millimeter is very, very slim. It's very rare, okay. It's very rare. Like over here, you have to go to Fort Lauderdale down Fort Lauderdale to see it. It's like very weird to see to get one of those. It's like, damn, do I really need to drive 45 minutes to try to go see a movie? Like 70 millimeter.
SPEAKER_04So there's different types of iMac. It's a different types of iMac. Got it.
SPEAKER_03The true 70 millimeter like the one that you see go to, the one I told you about the 4DX, that's a different experience. So those are you gotta go down there to get that experience. Yeah, those are very limited. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04And what's crazy too, like they also were saying I was reading the 70 millimeter, the film itself, like loading that, it's like almost a thousand pounds. Wow, it's so heavy, like to look, it's crazy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I think that's the same type of filming that they did for that centers movie. Um, yeah, yeah. And that's that that's the thing about that is they said that uh you have a different watching experience if you go watch it on those wider IMAX screen than just the standard one. Yes, like it's almost as if you watch a totally different movie. So um I'm interested in seeing how you come back and feel about it. Um and definitely D said he's gonna uh you you're watching it this weekend, right?

Avengers Trailer And CGI Fatigue
SPEAKER_04morning. It was about Monday morning I was at work and my coworker hit me up. Boom. Avengers trailer came out. Yeah, Avengers trailer came out. Finally, awesome. We've been waiting months. We heard about the teaser. I watched the trailer. I'm not gonna lie. It kind of left me at meh.

SPEAKER_04It's not only not that long, but what I want to get to discussion with you guys is CGI. After watching Odyssey, Christopher Nolan did not use CGI. There's monsters in the movie. There are people that are not humans. I'm not giving nothing away.

SPEAKER_04Did not, okay. Everybody knows the Greek mythology. Okay, let's just say they're not humans. He did not use CGI.

SPEAKER_04He used real people, he used real boats, real water. I'm just saying, like after watching the Avengers trailer, it just looks like the CGI type. It's just CGI. I'm not excited, and I wanted to have this discussion with you guys. Don't get me wrong, they're gonna take all my money, I'm gonna go watch Avengers and all that. But after watching Odyssey, yeah, it just is like, I mean, you see the fake background, it's like, come on, Disney, you could do a little bit better than that. But like Christopher Nolan stands by, he's like, I didn't use no CGI, all real people, all real artifacts. He uses real planes, he blows up stuff. Like, interesting. I'm just saying, like, after watching, I watched it a couple times and I'm like, don't get me wrong, I get it. You gotta use, you can't use real lightning for Thor. You gotta use, like, I get it, you gotta use CGI, but it just is like I'm not excited, man. After watching the Odyssey, like I just wanted to get your take on it.

Uh, first of all, number one, uh, you gotta understand for Disney, um, Marvel, it's one of those movies that everybody's gonna watch regardless. I get it. I get it. No matter if CGI or non-CGI, they're gonna watch it. It's just again, these movies are mad long. Every Marvel movie, you're looking at two and a half plus to watch. Uh some people take their time with it, some people don't take their time with it. Some people have a quota, some people don't have a quota. Some people say I need this shit done by this amount of time, and then we need to launch this week, this month. And some of them like, nah, fuck that. We're gonna make this shit great, and then we're gonna just launch whenever we get ready to launch. That's the difference between Christopher and Marvel. You know, you got these guys, millions and millions of dollars who are getting paid, who are just known just for that like Robbie Donnie Jr. Everybody knows. Yes, Tony Stark. You put him in a different movie, nah, that's still a fucking Tony Stark for me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You see, you see what I'm saying? Matt Damon has done a couple movies with Christopher. Actually, now that I think about it, this is the first one, I think. Well, is it? I don't know. Matt Damon has Christopher Nolan has used Matt Demons in several films. All right. First of all, number one, you know what?

SPEAKER_03Not not that I think about it, he is always like he is always uh uh I think Christopher Nolan, if you really look at it, now that I think about it, Christopher Nolan has spent at least five to six hundred million dollars on Matt Demons trying to get Matt Demon out of a fucking something. Uh he did Interstellar, uh he did what The Martian, if I'm not mistaken. Um was it the Martian? I don't know.

Like probably in this movie, he's trying to get him home too. Yeah, yeah. Like he has a connection with him, and it seems like that these movies are just phenomenal. And then what's his name again? Um Zimmer. Uh Zimmerman, the uh the the orchestra, is it the orchestra? The the symphony guy. They're also doing money with that too. I mean, uh back to your question. It's all about who does it, man. I at the end of the day, like Christopher Nolan, you know how my dear Batman, he did a phenomenal job. Yes. Yeah, spending money on that.
SPEAKER_04And my thing is, after watching Odyssey, it makes everything else look like slop. Yeah, you heard the term AI slop. That's what, like, when I saw the Marvel, I'm like, I wasn't even that excited.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, uh, didn't it just didn't even but but I I think the part that that really gets you is is when you when you see the movie and then you know the effort put into the movie. Yes, right. Like it was like, oh, those are actually real ships. Or like, hey, uh the the object that they built, it act they actually had to build it. They didn't just build it, yeah.
SPEAKER_04It's not like some computer, like they graphics, whatever. Like, and I get it, CGI is different from AI. Like it's CGI is computer graphics interface, and then I get it, it's cheaper, they can roll out the stuff faster, and it's art, but it just there's something with that how Christopher Nolan does it, the art. Like, I want to get your take on it, you know.
SPEAKER_02Like, you don't care, or what do you or first off? I didn't know that that movie didn't have no CGI. Yes. Does that how does that change it impresses? Yes, doesn't that impress you even more now? Yeah, it does. It's crazy. Yeah, I didn't know that. Yes. Um, number two, um, movies with CGI for me, I feel like they're taking the easy way out.

Um, and what movies actually for me, like an OHED, the actors actually acting out the parts is actually the part of the movie. Right. Right. Um, or like uh a Jackie Chang that does all his own um uh stunts and stuff like that, or Tom Cruise, right? You talk about Mission Impostle, he did all those stunts. That makes me more impressed by the quality of the movie. I did not know that movie was CGI, that's what I'm saying. Um, and Marvels, unfortunately, because they're like they have to. I get it.
SPEAKER_04Wakanda's not a real place. You got to, I get that. You gotta use CGI, but I'm just saying, like, it just it just changes it for me, man. He said Wakanda's not a real place. I get it, man. Like Christopher Nolan would have found somewhere that looked like Wakanda and like actually films, you know what I'm saying?

I will say, if you think about um like the future that we're moving towards, where eventually we won't actually be mentioning CGI as much as mentioning AI creating movies, is that movies that we know that people actually built it and actually featured in it and it actually was a human in it, right? It's just like, you know, unless they come out with another I'm sh I know this was a teaser trailer and all that, they're gonna come out with another one that's and I'm gonna change my view, but it just I don't know. SPEAKER_03So Marvel reportedly invested roughly 700 million on Avengers Doomsday. 700 million including a production of 400 and marketing campaign over 300 million. Two that is for Doomsday.

SPEAKER_03Uh Odyssey, like I said, uh 250 million to produce with an additional 125 spent on global marketing and a massive budget budget of 375 million makes Nolan's most expensive movie ever and one of the most uh price R-rated films in history. Wow. So 250 compared to 700 CGI.

SPEAKER_02And uh the the reason why I'm bringing it up is I actually got a phone call from an old buddy of mine. Big shout out to my guy Norton. Give him a big round of applause. Uh, Norton and I go way back. Uh, we we had worked together at um a company called Cisco Corp, where we used to travel to cruise ships. Um, and he was one of my travel guys, he was a technician, he was a uh a senior to me. He was there before. Um, but one of the things that me and Norton really connected on was learning about Linux. You remember I told y'all about a certification I got called RHCE, the Red Hat Certified Engineer. Um, and if you don't know, check your boy out. I got so much information about those certifications and learning. But Chris was the guy that I used to learn and you know use something called CBT Nuggets to study. Oh, yeah. I remember that. You remember C B T Nuggets? Oh, yeah. Yeah, man. And we used to, we he he was the plug for those. Um so he called me last night and he was like, yo, um, let's talk about this AI thing because I feel like I'm late to the game. And the thing about Norrin is he's he's very technically inclined, so I can really jump into the concept about AI. But the thing that was really like um took me back is that he he had like a FOMO, like a feeling I'm missing out. Like he he's like, Oh my gosh, man, like tell me everything you know about it because I feel like I'm left behind. And I was telling him that I don't think you're left behind, bro. I think you you are like at the opportune time to jump into AI, um, but don't feel like you're left behind. And I just wanted to know if y'all felt like that or have you heard your co-workers saying that they feel left behind in terms of AI at all.

SPEAKER_02So from his uh definition of his use case for AI is just with chat. It was like ChatGPT conversation, help me, you know, draft an email or something like that.

SPEAKER_02Um and the part that he's really feeling left behind is that leap that we have been talking about in our show, like agentic AI. Okay. Like AI actually doing things. Like, hey, go and build out a website that does X, Y, and Z. Or hey, um, help me, you know, book a trip to uh go to Expedia and execute on it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but I feel like a lot of people are late to that unless you're a techie. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Am I wrong, or would you say Well, this is the thing that feeling late to it is kind of like, well, I'm just trying to figure out where this word resonates with me.

SPEAKER_02So when I when I hear people say, hey, I'm late to joining the power user group, it's not like everybody's in that group. Yes. It's not like everybody's using it that way. And I'm wondering if uh other people are feeling that same way. Like when they learn about agentic AI and they see it, they're like, Oh my gosh, I feel like I'm late, rather than like, oh, um, I've joined a community and now I feel like I've uh finally understand how AI works or could be used.

SPEAKER_04My brother, I try to convince him to use AI. I was like, hey man, you can like look up stuff with your girl, pick out dates and plan stuff. He's like, I'm not using that. That's the devil's technology. What? He's never kind of won't, won't, won't yeah. He's never signed in AI, will not sign it. He said it's the devil's technology. My sister, not used it, never signed it. Those are people who are late to it.

Um, so much so that him and I had actually talked about um potentially doing some like uh workshops or streaming, or what we used to do more like our community meetups type stuff where we could have you know people just demoing what they're working on and seeing. Because he he his response was is like, um, hey, I'm trying to go and create this thing. Um and it's this website that's gonna do this, that, and this. And in my head, I was like, hey, I I I already do that. Um, it wouldn't be no more than five or ten minute conversation to see it being done. And then he was like, yo, I want to go back to uh getting content like when we you got for CBT Nuggets. That's why I brought up CBT Nuggets, is uh the amount of resources out there around that power user level is still really minimum so that people can't close that gap faster sooner. Um but if you're here, just letting you know that the tech hustle is the spot to be. Um my guy Norton, I can't wait until we're on a conversation.
